Wealthy investors are increasingly pursuing property investment opportunities across the world, including Fiji under what is commonly known as the ‘Golden Visa programme’.
Golden Visa programmes also known as ‘Residence or Citizenship by Investment’ programmes are designed to attract wealthy individuals to make substantial investments in property or long term fund deposits in order to obtain residency and citizenship in a foreign country.
It allows a direct pathway to permanent residence and citizenship of a country through the investment of a minimum required sum in a long term bank deposit, or via the purchase of property. Numerous countries currently offer this immigration programme including Fiji.
It is not widely known that Fiji also has a Golden Visa programme.
Fiji’s Golden Visa programme is known as the Residence on Assured Income Permit and is designed primarily to offer ‘residence by investment’.
Wealthy applicants under the above-mentioned visa programme can purchase income generating luxury properties or set up a long term interest bearing fund deposit with a local bank. Doing so will enable applicants to become eligible for the grant of a residence permit.
Upon meeting a required period of residence, applicants will then become eligible to apply for Permanent Residence and eventually, Fijian citizenship under this category. Fiji recognizes dual citizenships.
Unsurprisingly, increasing numbers of investors are choosing to invest in Fiji under the 'Residence on Assured Income Permit' programme.
