- How big is Fiji?

Fiji has 332 islands spanning an area of approximately 498,000 square km. 106 islands are inhabited. There are also 522 smaller, uninhabited islets.
The two main islands are Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Viti Levu is the larger of the two and it is where the majority of the population lives. The country’s main cities, including Suva the Capital are also located on Viti Levu.
Vanua Levu has a smaller population and two main towns, namely Labasa and Savusavu. Savusavu is known as the hidden paradise and is a scenic wonderland. It is most famous for its hot springs and diving. A number of eco- friendly boutique resorts and hotels are located here. The majority of Fiji’s freehold land is located here and the area is fast becoming increasingly popular with a growing expat community who are investing in retirement and holiday homes.
Located close to Vanua Levu is the third main island of Taveuni which has a smaller population than Vanua Levu. It is known as the garden island of Fiji and is a natural wonderland with bushwalks, waterfalls, unique flora and fauna that aren’t found anywhere else and excellent diving spots. - How many cities does Fiji have?

Fiji has three main cities; Suva, the capital, Lautoka, center for sugar manufacturing and Nadi, the tourist capital of Fiji.
Suva is the largest city and is the political and financial capital of the country. It is the seat of Government and has the largest business hub in the Pacific.
Lautoka is Fiji’s second largest city and is located in the heart of the sugar cane growing region of Western Fiji. It is thus also known as Sugar city.
Nadi is Fiji’s third largest city and is the tourist capital of the country. It is located in the country’s premier tourist location in Western Fiji and is approximately 30 km from Lautoka city. Denerau Island which is actually an islet is located just off Nadi town and hosts the country’s premier five star hotels and resorts.

Fijians are very welcoming of foreigners and Fiji is a gay friendly destination. The 2013 constitution of Fiji enshrines protection from discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation. However, Fiji is a conservative society so be respectful and abstain from any form of public displays of affection, particularly in rural areas and when visiting traditional iTaukei villages.

The Fijian dollar (FJD). It is pegged to a number of international currencies comprising of the Australian dollar (AUD), the New Zealand dollar (NZD), the United States dollar (USD) , the Japanese Yen (JPY) and Euro ( EUR).
- Does Fiji have Private Hospitals?

Fiji currently has 3 private hospitals. They are: Pacific Specialist Healthcare, Suva Private Hospital and Oceania Hospitals (pvt) Ltd. All are located in the capital city of Suva. In addition to serving Fiji locals, these hospitals also serve patients from other Pacific Islands.
- Is it safe for women to live on their own in Fiji?

Fiji is generally a safe place. A woman on her own would be just fine if she chose to live in a closed community with security such as a gated community. Luxury properties in Fiji are usually located in gated communities with excellent security.
